BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS
MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP FIRE DISTRICT NO. 2
NOTICE OF CAPITAL BUDGET REFERENDUM AND SPECIAL MEETING
ON FY26 CAPITAL BUDGET PROJECT
PLEASE BE ADVISED that pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-84, the Commissioners of
Fire District No. 2 in the Township of Montgomery, County of Somerset, shall hold a
Referendum and Special Meeting on Saturday, December 13 th, 2025, between the hours of 6:00
p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to secure voter approval for the completion of a capital project, acquisition
of a replacement rescue apparatus, in an amount not to exceed $1,900,000.00. There will be a
single polling location at the Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 firehouse
located at 529 County Route 518, Skillman, N.J. 08558.
At said referendum the legal voters shall vote to either approve or disapprove of said capital
project and determine the amount of monies to be expended. If approved at referendum the
BOFC will then meet to vote to include the funds in the FY26 budget. All monies to be
expended are currently in the capital reserve account and no tax increase will occur as a
consequence of referendum approval.
The proposed capital project involves the replacement of an existing 2009 rescue apparatus
that has reached the end of its useful life expectancy. The Board proposes to replace the
vehicle with a new apparatus that will be able to respond to motor vehicle extrication incidents
as well as provide support for high water rescues and other emergencies.
The total amount expended for the project shall not exceed $1,900,000.00 which is available in
the District capital reserve account.

Mission Statement
Montgomery Township Fire District No. 2 is an autonomous entity responsible for providing fire protection and extinguishing fires within the geographic boundaries of the fire district, in general the southern portion of Montgomery Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. The Fire District is funded through a fire tax and governed by a five member Board of Fire Commissioners. Its mission is to protect life, property and the environment from damage due to fire and environmental emergencies in our district, and to assist neighboring communities in their mission to do the same.
