Mission Statement
Montgomery Township Fire District No. 2 is an autonomous entity responsible for providing fire protection and extinguishing fires within the geographic boundaries of the fire district, in general the southern portion of Montgomery Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. The Fire District is funded through a fire tax and governed by a five member Board of Fire Commissioners. Its mission is to protect life, property and the environment from damage due to fire and environmental emergencies in our district, and to assist neighboring communities in their mission to do the same.
The Fire District's administrative office is located in the Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 firehouse in Blawenburg, New Jersey. If you wish to send correspondence, please send it to:

NOTICE OF ELECTION FOR THE OFFICE OF FIRE COMMISSIONER
NOTICE OF AVIALABILITY OF ABSENTEE/MAIL IN BALLOTS FOR THE ELECTION AND BUDGET REFERENDUM ON FEBRUARY 21, 2026
Please take notice that the Board of Fire Commissioners of Fire District No. 2, Montgomery Township, Somerset County, N.J. will hold a public hearing on a proposed 2026 budget at its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. at the firehouse located at 529 Route 518, Skillman, N.J. Comments and objections concerning the proposed budget will be received from the public at this hearing. A copy of the approved budget is posted at the Montgomery Township municipal building and available for review between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The proposed budget is also posted on the Board website bofc46.com. A copy of the budget will also be provided to any person requesting the same during the week preceding the public hearing by contacting the Board Clerk at [email protected].
The Board anticipates taking formal action to adopt the budget at the conclusion of the public hearing.
Notice is also given that the BOFC will hold an election on Saturday, February 21st to fill one vacancy for a three-year term on the BOFC. Persons interested in running for the vacancy must obtain a nominating petition by emailing [email protected].
Persons seeking election must file a nominating petition with the BOFC by Friday, January 23, 2026.
Persons requesting a vote by mail ballot to vote in the election must apply to the Somerset County Board of elections by Saturday, February 14th, 2026, by submitting a request to [email protected].
